Free Delivery – Free standard delivery is based on destinations within the Continental U.S. that are accessible by:

NOTE: Additional charges may apply to areas outside this region. In areas not accessible by these trucks, you will be required to pick your shipment up at the nearest freight terminal. There are no extra charges for residential delivery, standard freight truck (without lift gate service), or delivery notification, but you must note any services that you need in the “Comments” section of your online order (such as a steep driveway where the unit cannot be pushed up or a stone driveway). This will ensure that your order is successfully delivered on the first attempt.

power liftgate2Lift Gate – Lift gate service is available for an additional $130 charge on standard freight trucks so that heavy shipments can be brought to ground level. Please note that the carrier’s only responsibility is to put the shipment on the lift gate and lower it to the ground. Although most drivers do carry a pallet jack and will usually help out when they can, they are in no way required to offload the unit from the lift gate or place your generator. An authorized Generac Dealer in your area can be found on These dealers can install your generator purchased from Home Power Systems. If you decided to unload your air cooled generator yourself, you will want to have a pallet jack or other means of moving the generator on hand when the delivery is made. Please be very careful when handling the unit. Off loading of liquid cooled generators can only be done with approved lifting equipment such as fork lift trucks and cranes.

Lift gate services are not available for any liquid cooled generators (22kw – 150kw). Due to size and weight constraints, these models must be delivered to a commercial location with a loading dock, heavy-duty forklift, or other means of offloading on site.

Delivery Times – Air cooled standby and portable generators ship direct from the Generac factory warehouse as fast as possible depending on order backlog and after full payment is received. Liquid cooled generators ship from the Generac factory within 15 business days if unit is in stock. Some liquid generators have a 4-6 week delivery. Please contact Home Power Systems for projected shipment times as these times very greatly on order demand and factory production. Even at time of order, Generac may change production schedules without notifying Home Power Systems.

Residential Delivery – Residential service is available at no charge. For most residential deliveries, it is not necessary to use a smaller freight truck with lift gate service. However, it is still a freight truck. Deliveries to extremely remote areas while using a standard freight truck are sometimes not possible. If your residence is in a location that is not accessible by a standard freight truck, you may be required to either pick your shipment up at the nearest freight terminal or pay additional charges for a smaller freight truck with lift gate service. Home Power Systems is not responsible for additional freight charges if the unit cannot be delivered as original planned. Delivery of your generator will be made to the SHIPPING address you provide. Please make sure that this address is the correct one. Once the order is placed, Home Power Systems will be unable to change that address without a $150.00 re-consignment fee.

Special Delivery Instructions – Liquid Cooled Generators – In order to ensure that you are able to receive and unload your delivery, certain provisions will need to be made when receiving these generators, if there is no loading dock available. Due to the current packaging size of these units they must be loaded onto the freight truck elongated instead of sideways. This means that they cannot be unloaded with just the use of a forklift. You must have a chain available to pull the units to the end of the truck. Then you must stabilize the unit using 1 forklift on its end and come in with another forklift on its side to get the unit completely off the truck. Once the unit is safely unloaded only 1 forklift is needed to maneuver it. If this equipment is not available all the time at a particular delivery site you must order the 24-hour notice to ensure that you are able to arrange for these items before an initial delivery attempt is made. This process is needed to ensure safe unloading and prevent damage during the delivery of your units. This applies to standard and drop ship deliveries. Home Power Systems is not responsible for additional charges if trucking company needs to make extra trips for you to off load your generator.

Freight Damage – Please be sure to inspect the shipment very carefully before you sign for delivery (this is not only important with your new generator, but anything you ever receive by freight). Inspect the packaging, and if possible, open the packaging and inspect the product inside for hidden damage. If you notice any signs of damage, note them in detail on the delivery ticket. Then, we recommend that you refuse delivery and contact us immediately. When you refuse delivery, we will be able to get you a replacement. If you do sign for and accept delivery of a damaged item, we cannot guarantee you a replacement. Once you sign, you take responsibility for any claims that may need to be placed with the freight carrier. Refusing delivery protects you from this hassle.

If there is no visible or obvious damage (carton appears acceptable at delivery and no damage is noted on delivery receipt), but you discover broken items after opening, call the LTL Carrier within two (2) business days of receipt for instructions in placing a Concealed Damage Claim. Typically, a LTL Carrier will not give you 100% replacement value when filing a concealed damage claim and we will not assume the difference. You are responsible for verifying the condition of your merchandise upon receipt. Please inspect it carefully for shipping/handling damage prior to signing the delivery receipt.

Carrier freight claims are paid directly to you, the consignee, all claims for damage or loss must be filed with the Carrier. The name, address and phone number of the LTL Carrier is on the bill of lading given to you at the time of delivery. If the information is not there, request if from the driver or call your local phone directory operator for the information.

For UPS, FedEx or DHL act as follows: If the package is obviously damaged, refuse delivery. The carrier is then responsible for returning the damaged merchandise to the original sender. Call us immediately so we can initiate the replacement process. Please open the package and inspect before the carrier leaves for any damage. If you find damage after opening it refuse delivery. Any damage found after opening your boxes and examining the merchandise should be reported to us within two (2) business days to expedite the replacement process. If you sign for the package with out inspecting it for damage, you then become responsible for filing a damage claim with the carrier. Home Power Systems accepts no responsibility for damaged goods that were not refused.

Installation – Home Power Systems recommends installation be performed by an Authorized Generac Dealer. Local building codes vary for installation procedures. Initial startup of your new generator is the most important time. Voltage, frequency and the gas demand regulator need to be adjusted for maximum performance and longevity. The warranty registration form must be completed and sent to Generac/Guardian in order for your warranty to be valid. Generac/Guardian standard 3 year warranty is 2 years of coverage on parts and labor and 1 year on parts only.

Generac/Guardian generators are intended for standby applications only. Prime power usage is not covered by Generac warranty. Also, generators installed in applications other than as listed in the owner’s & installation manual may not be covered by warranty. Please contact your local Generac Dealer additional information about the terms and conditions of the standard warranty.

Warranty Service – Warranty service must always be performed by an authorized Generac/Guardian Dealer. Feel free to call your local Generac/Guardian Dealer for needed repairs. Home Power Systems is not responsible for any costs with warranty repairs. Shipping costs that may be needed to transport your generator to a repair facility are not covered by Home Power Systems. Call a local Generac/Guardian Dealer to perform required warranty repairs.

Technical Assistance – Home Power Systems is an authorized Generac/Guardian Premier Dealer and we can provide you with expert advice on basic issues you may have with your new Generac/Guardian generator. Please feel free to call a local dealer to perform warranty and service calls. Any costs for this service will be paid by you. However, for liability purposes, we cannot advise on repair and technical procedures.

Return Policy – In an attempt to avoid returns, we ask that you research and be sure of the generator you are looking at before placing your order. Generators may be returned in their original packaging in new and unused condition within 30 days from the delivery date, but they will be subject to a restocking fee. Generators that have been installed, wired, or have had fuel through them are not considered to be in new condition. Home Power Systems will not accept used generators or transfer switches. You must contact us before returning any product. All returned items must be shipped to us freight prepaid. Refunds will be issued by check, less a 25% restocking fee, once the goods are received and inspected.

Payment Methods / Procedure: Home Power Systems accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We will also gladly accept personal checks, certified checks (1.5% discount with certified check payment) or wire transfers payable in US funds. Sorry, No COD orders. For wire transfers, please call our office toll free at 716-314-1743 and we can provide you all the required information. Once your credit card payment is received in full, your order will be released for shipment in 3-5 business days. Orders will be released in 10 business days for personal check payments while final bank approval is in process. To prevent fraudulent credit card orders, Home Power Systems may delay processing your order if the billing address is different than the delivery address. Also, credit card company authorization may be required by Home Power Systems before order is inputted into our system. All this is to safe guard your credit card from possible fraudulent usage.

Sales Tax: Home Power Systems is required to collect sales for sales to the following states (Arizona, Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, Washington, California, Kansas, Nevada, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Connecticut, Kentucky, New Jersey, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Florida, Maryland, New York, Texas, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Virginia). Home Power Systems charges sales tax on all purchases where it is required by law to do so. For customers in New York State , all applicable taxes will be added to your order. Some shipments to California will be assessed a new 10% internet buying fee.

Price Changes: We reserve the right to change pricing at ANY time on ANY product without notice. If you place an order on the same day as a price change that reduces the price on the product you ordered, you can email or call us to qualify for the reduced price. We then could credit your credit card for the difference. If a price change occurs after 24hours of your purchase, you will not be eligible for a price adjustment. We also reserve the right to refuse the sale of a product at the listed price when a price change occurs.

Canceled Order: If after you place your order, and you decide to cancel your order, we will gladly do so only if the order has not been shipped. To cancel, you must notify us no later than the next business day after placing your order. A 6% processing fee will be deducted from your original order for the purchased amount, even if generator has not been shipped. Home Power Systems must confirm your intent to cancel through email, voicemail or written letter.

Refused Shipment: Customers shall be charged all return shipping charges, and a 25% restocking fee for all refused shipments (this covers cost to receive and inspect all returned items).

Order Mistakes Made by HPS: Call us immediately with a description of the issue and we will make arrangements for pick-up and then ship a replacement of the correct item.

Generator Sizing: Home power Systems is not responsible for proper sizing of your generator or type of transfer switch required. Home Power Systems can provide a recommendation of the KW rating of a generator or proper transfer switch based on information provided by you but cannot guarantee that the generator will handle final on site electrical loads. Please have a local Generac Dealer perform a site survey to verify your standby electrical needs.

Defective Merchandise: If you think you have defective merchandise, please call Generac directly at 1-888-436-3722 or a local Generac Dealer. Generac views defective merchandise as a warranty claims and will usually either repair or replace the merchandise. Home Power Systems cannot assist you with warranty issues. This must be handled by a local Generac Dealer or the factory.

Warranty: All merchandise sold by Home Power Systems is warranted by Generac/Guardian NOT Home Power Systems. Please contact your local dealer for warranty repairs.
