1 review for 9kW Generac Generator with 16-Circuit Transfer Switch Model# 7030

  1. Mike & Fran Insalaco

Most home owners wish for kitchen or bathroom remodels. My wife wanted a stand by generator! After receiving a small inheritance, she went to work. Reading reviews, infomercials, and researching every generator and installers. She always came back to only one company and one generator. Home Power Systems and the Generac generator. We visited the Farmington showroom and met Kaylyn S. She offered us refreshments and explained all the different models and the details of each generator offered for sale and how they worked. She patiently answered our questions and was very knowledgeable about the products. We made an appointment to meet with Ryan Reed the project manager. On the way out we signed the visitor book.
Ryan arrived on time at our home and went through the whole process. We discussed location, the electrical details, and the cost. We own a small home, Ryan went through the different sizes 8k-22/19.5kW. He did not try to pressure us in anyway
on which to purchase or try to direct us to a higher priced model. He left us with more information and a check list of “must haves” and “wants” in a power outage. The 8k 10 circuit fit our needs. Ryan came back and we bought the 8k generac. Because we visited the showroom we received a discount, we paid in full, another discount. We got the cold weather package free with the discounts applied.
Day of installation came 11/12/2015. My wife was really excited! Ryan came and introduced her to Andy W. and Shawn E. Shawn did most of the outdoor work and Andy was the electrician on the inside. Both men were very respectful of my wife and our home, placing drop clothes were needed. Shawn did all the gas line work outside. He discovered a gas leak and called NYSEG, who immediately came out a fixed the problem. Thanks again Shawn. Andy went though the entire panel box moved over the requested circuits, relabeled our panel box, labeled the new one. With walkie-talkies in hand they went though the whole house turning off and on circuits and labeling them. Almost the entire house ended up being on the transfer box! Shawn then walked my wife through a simulated power outage, what would happen, what to expect etc. He showed her the internals of the generator, how to check the oil,the battery, the cold weather start up pack, how to open and lock it.
We received a 3 ring binder with all the paper work, phone numbers, and the keys.
Shortly after they left, the electrical inspector came by and all was approved.
The next day the town building inspector came by and again all was approved.
On the following Wednesday @ 4 PM it started right up and did its tests, the green light came on and all was well.
One suggestion to the generac makers would be to dome the top a little for rainwater and debris to roll off.
Only one downside to the installation and it is NOT HPS’s fault that the generator had to be installed with the back side of the generator 5′ from the side of the house. This is a new New York State regulation.
Home Power Systems has the best sales staff with Kaylyn Slater, best project manager in Ryan Reed. Who also gave us updates and did all the permit and code work. Shawn Elliott, who worked outside in the very breezy cold weather. Andy Woodruff, who patiently did the rewiring, labeling and house walk through, also out in the wind and cold at times.
On 11/26/2015 we received our electrical certificate in the mail.
And that is why HPS and Generac get 5 stars from us.
